About Your Eco-Literacy Self-Assessment Tool

This Self-Assessment Tool is a dynamic resource designed to support and empower you to evaluate your knowledge and understanding of climate change and eco-literacy topics. The tool is composed of 24 statements, and its aim is to help you reflect on and evaluate your knowledge, skills and competencies in six key areas

1) Tackling Misinformation and Media and Information Literacy (MIL)

2) Climate Change

3) Climate Denialism 

4) Climate Behavior and Activism

5) Waste & Recycling

6) Mitigation & Consumption – Consumer Behavior. 

Why should you use this tool? 

By engaging with the tool, you can uncover your own gaps in terms of knowledge and skills, challenge preconceived notions, and recognize areas for your growth in terms of acquiring new knowledge and self-development. This process is for you to cultivate not only self-awareness but also the skills and knowledge needed to navigate today’s complex societal and environmental challenges. 

What you will get access to – a personalized learning path!

After going through the tool, you will get the results assessing your overall level of skills in all the six areas mentioned. Based on these results, you will be provided with a personalized learning path tailored to your specific needs. 

You will gain access to a diverse set of Open Educational Resources (OERs), including articles, videos, case studies, and interactive materials designed to deepen knowledge and inspire actionable change. Whether the focus is on combating misinformation, adopting sustainable consumption practices, or engaging in climate activism, the Self-Assessment Tool serves as both a reflective mirror and a guide, enabling you and other users to enhance your impact as informed citizens and proactive changemakers.

Based on your results, the personalized learning path will direct you to the most relevant courses for you. The courses you will get access to are divided into three levels:

  1. Explorer level – this level indicates that you have a basic knowledge and understanding of the topic of interest. Therefore, you will be directed to take the explorer course, which will guide you in understanding the basics of the area of interest. There are six explorer level courses, one for each of the six key areas mentioned above.
  2. Practitioner level – this level indicates that you possess an intermediate level of knowledge and skills in the area of interest. Therefore, you will be recommended to take the practitioner course within this area, in order to develop your skills further. There are six practitioner level courses, one for each of the six key areas mentioned above. 
  3. Expert level – this level indicates that you have advanced knowledge and skills in the area/topic of interest. Therefore, you will be suggested to check extra resources in order to deepen your knowledge of the topic of interest. For the expert level, there are no corresponding courses – however, we recommend you to check the extra resources.

Remember! The results of the self-assessment will direct you to one course per area for each of the six areas. So, you are free to follow the results and recommendations of the feedback in your personalized path – at the same time, you can also choose to take a different level of course(s) than the one suggested. 

How to use the self-assessment tool: 

In each area, you will be presented with 4 different statements with 3 possible answers each. Read each statement carefully as well as the options underneath it. Then select the option that best matches your level of knowledge, skills, or understanding.
